2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

With spruced up styling both outside and in, the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder spins an enticing web. At the apex of the fun meter are the large (we tested the V6) engines coupled with silky transmissions that give a nice quick release from the line. At the same time it manages to produce pretty decent fuel economy at 20/27. The handling via assisted rack and pinon is quite precise and the suspension yields very little roll in the turns. While we never quite got used to the automatic transmission, there were plenty of stop-and-go situations that made us glad we didn't have to do the left-foot clutch dance. The braking system is very effective at all speeds and ABS is available on all models. The contoured seats are quite comfortable. The Infiniti sounds system puts out a clear and clean sound even with the top down. The power top with its somewhat small heated glass window has a remarkably easy latch to fasten. The rear seat is best for children and small adults - the cargo space is limited but usable. - Editor |
