Jaguar S-TYPE Wins People's Choice Car of The Year AwardLOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 -- The Jaguar S-TYPE has been named the People's Choice Car of the Year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Jaguar S-TYPE, the company's first compact sedan in more than 30 years, was the top choice in balloting of more than 5,000 new vehicle buyers, who tabbed the S-TYPE as the best of the "all-new" vehicles for the 2000 model year. The Jaguar S-TYPE beat out seven other models for this award. This year's award was the second such honor awarded by the People's Choice, an independent, privately funded group that makes the nominations and administers the voting for Car of the Year. David Breslow, founder of The People's Choice, presented the 2000 award to Jaguar Southern California District Sales Manager Mary Kaliff. The S-TYPE is named in tribute to the company's high-performance 3.8 S-type of the 1960s, acknowledging the link between the new car's modern appearance and Jaguar's powerful design legacy. The S-TYPE blends traditional Jaguar design cues with advanced technologies designed to set new standards in quality, reliability, and driving pleasure. The Jaguar S-TYPE is available with a 3.0-litre AJ-V6 engine or a 4.0-litre version, equipped with Jaguar's acclaimed AJ-V8 engine. The S- TYPE's standard and optional equipment offerings provide buyers with a variety of sophisticated features. Among the innovations are voice-activated controls and an integrated navigation system.
