World Debuts Highlight Media Days at Greater Los Angeles Auto ShowLOS ANGELES, Nov. 27 The automotive industry will be focusing its attention on Los Angeles in early January as automakers reveal more than two dozen production and concept vehicles at this year's Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. Among the companies presenting World debuts are Acura, BMW, Daewoo, Dodge, Ford, General Motors, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Panoz, Suzuki, Volkswagen and Volvo. Industry executives and journalists will gain a sneak peek of these vehicles during Media Days on January 4 and 5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Continuing to broaden its L.A. Auto Show presence is General Motors, which will announce two World debuts -- a production and concept vehicle. Most notable is the Chevrolet Borrego concept. This is the first vehicle to be designed in G.M.'s Los Angeles design studio that opened earlier this year and reflects Southern California's eclectic car culture. "The Borrego has the agility of a rally car and the influence of Baja racers," explains Frank Saucedo, director of the General Motors studio. Media Days will receive a dynamic start with Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle, group vice president of Ford Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group, as the featured speaker at the Motor Press Guild Breakfast on January 4. Reitzle, who is responsible for the international operations of Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln and Volvo, will provide an interesting insight into the luxury vehicle market and future plans for the Premier Automotive Group.
