APL Moves Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor Cars to the 2001 North American International Auto ShowDETROIT, Mich., Jan. 18 Two opening-night attendees admire one of the premier Rolls Royce automobiles moved from Felixstowe, England to New York by premier transportation provider APL in time for the black-tie gala of the North American International Auto Show (www2.naias.com). The show is now taking place in Detroit (through January 21). APL's Trans-Atlantic service carried four luxury vehicles from Felixstowe to New York in eight days, in two separate containers, during the hectic holiday period and in time for the show that is visited by more than 800,000 visitors from the public and media. The first container held a Bentley Continental and one Rolls Royce Silver Seraph and the second container held a Bentley limousine and a Bentley Azure. The cars were transloaded for truck delivery last week to Livonia, Michigan just outside of Detroit. It was the first time APL moved cars for Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor Cars Inc. APL's Trans-Atlantic services were reorganized last year as part of the company's strategic plan to increase its presence in Europe generally and in the Northern Europe trade in particular. The new service offers broader port coverage and faster transit times.
